Frank Lorenz · YOU, ME AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR

25 April to 5 June

Frank Lorenz impresses, that we can say quite subjectively to start with.
He has been living and painting in Berlin since 2000, initially documenting on canvas the fight for survival in regions of crisis, terror and catastrophes.
The fight can now only be found in the way that he paints: raw, unwieldy and passionate. Otherwise, nowadays it’s all about positive thinking, ideally Lorenz would like to share the best moments of life with his audience. A perceptible vitality and strength.
His path of creation and development, in its way of looking at the world and attitude to life, was significantly influenced by the lecturer Pauline Disonn, originally from England, who is the head of the Fine Art, Drawing and Stage Design Department at Berlin’s Die Etage School for Performing & Fine Arts.
The exhibition shows male portraits, faces that are in format and viewpoint arranged identically opposite to each other in order to outline differences and similarities.
In the end, we are all the same and all a little bit special.

Fighting Faith

10 January to 06 March

With artist Guil Macedo, born 1980 in Sao Paulo, the public is confronted or pleased with a wide range of blossoms his work let grow.
In certain aspects generalistic and provocative he combines vibrant street art, its graffittis, graphic designs and social commentaries with realism in photos of everyday live. He uses various iconic symbols in modern fashion (he has his own label) as well as in his installations.
His topics are anxiety of urban living, the juxtaposition of ideas: fear and protection, chaos and harmony, danger and beauty, wish and reality as well as simplicity and diversity. Personal freedom as a main topic and goal is expressed throughout his work.
The wishes and allusions in his work can be erotic, political but never superficial. Edgy and uncompromising in refusing to explain everything he leaves the final conclusion to the estimations of the spectators and demands thinking. A psychologic game, a social experiment or a reflection of the truth...?
Homages to Keith Haring, Cocteau or Genet maybe coming to mind, but Macedo remains mysterious at the same time.
So be warned and let Macedo mirror also your ego in 'fighting faith' , presented by Hinrich Kröger at Just Men Berlin on th 10th of January.

Man through the light

22 November to 09 January 2010

Greek sun and mediterranean ease in cloudy Berlin.
Enjoy a warm sunbeam in the gloomy autumn with the Greek painter Christos, and you will be taken to the warm shores of summer in the Mediterranean.
The 37 old native Greek Christos puts worth on historical understanding, and the knowledge to the origin around the painting. Long time at home in Athens, the ancient culture inspired him just as contemporary painting, which he does not only reflect in pictures, but also in mosaics, water colors and painted marble artifacts.
His topic is colorful and life-affirming the male body, in various idealizations with the courage of beauty.
Already at the tender age of 10 years he began to be interested in all artistic, deepened in literature over the history of the art and began late to take courses in the university of Athens. His teachers were among others the Greek painter ' Peros Beglis' as well as ' Artemis Maneka' , representatives of the 'New Wave' of the Greek art scene, they encouraged him to dedicate to art completely. His favourite time in art - as shown in his work - is clearly the hellinistic, although he feels home as well in Rokkoko as in modern painting, like the play with colors of Mark Rothko.
Christos is currently living on an Aegean island.

Living art / Mirror of the Self

17 October to 21 November 2009

To fit ‚Tirry’ Guiseppe Tiriticco, born XXX in Liguria, Italy, student of art high school A. Martini de Savona, into a category is difficult, because the spectrum of his works is broad.
He is performer, painter, singer, dancer and most of all a living art object. His artistic forms of expression are based on collages, illustrations, comics and their derivates, combined with their manifestation within him. Being symbolist and dualist in all fields of artistic expression, he does what real art is all about: he bridges between himself and the audience, in all imaginable ways.
He takes the viewer on a journey to other countries and their philosophies, from India Indonesia, South America to Asia. In his works, Japanese Wabi-Sabi merges with European Punk, South American real mysticism with archeological discoveries. A collage, a surrogate of life and a hymn to the same.
